We will continue to discuss key elements in creating compelling arrangements such as touch, feel, chord voicings, ranges of the guitar, and tone, while bringing in new topics such as reharmonization and counterpoint. In this class we will study arrangements from both the popular and jazz realm.

Who you are

You should be a very strong intermediate to advanced student. If you just know barre chords and open chords, I would recommend taking String Theory 1 and 2 as well as Chord Melody 1 before this class.

What to bring

Guitar - if you are electric have an amp handy! If you have pedals, let's try those.

Dr Molly Miller is a brilliant teacher. This class helps guitarist see the process of how to build chord melody from a basic lead sheet. Dr Miller gives you tools so you can use this process to approach arranging your own chord melodies. While I couldn’t attend as many live classes due to a busy schedule, I am able to go my own pace with the class recordings. I highly recommend this class!

Really great class. I really enjoyed and learned a lot from the sequence of String Theory and Chord Melody classes that Molly gave. Chord Melody 2 is the most information rich and really helped opened my eyes to what tools and techniques are available to the player wanting to create their own Chord Melody. Plenty of practical material was provided onto which we could focus our study of the materials. Molly is very experienced in the material but also at teaching it so the classes are well structured and work feel very worthwhile.

Molly is THE BEST. It really is a rare treat to find someone so knowledgeable about guitar AND someone so equipped at teaching. My knowledge and playing level up with every class I take from her. Chord Melody 2 is high level stuff that Molly makes easy and fun.

Molly is amazing and her teaching and the course content is really great. The mute function on the new class hosting is a little annoying with asking questions, but I sort of learned to raise my hand. It all was a little better when it was zoom based but I realize there are probably considerations on that so maybe just formalize the hand raise, mute thing.
