There’s no shortcut to learning an instrument. Like everything in life, you must put in the hard hours in order to see results. It can be frustrating, and more often than not, after a certain point the guitar ends up gathering dust in the corner. The good news is, you don’t have to go it alone anymore. We live in the age of sharing our experiences with the world, and it’s never been easier to find others who share your passion.

One of the coolest things I’ve done in recent times is developing this international community of like-minded guitarists. We tune in from all over the world with the same goals in mind; To improve our abilities on the guitar, to deepen our understanding of music, and most importantly, to have fun and enjoy the process.

There’s a million free guitar lessons on YouTube... why bother with live lessons?

The answer is simple. These are interactive lessons, during which you can ask questions, share your thoughts, and help to guide the class towards the core of your own unique struggles on the instrument.

Following on from my class 'Jimi Hendrix: Are You Experienced', we will be continuing on this journey with his incredible second album 'Axis: Bold As Love'

During this 5 week course, I will be your personal guide as we explore some of the most influential and righteous guitar playing of all time.

From his beautiful rhythm playing, to the earth-shattering riffs and the blistering solos, Jimi's incredible talents have inspired every generation of guitarist since. He still sounds fresh, exciting and original today, almost 60 years on.

In this fun and interactive class, we will explore the mechanics of his playing, his approach to rhythm, lead, tone, phrasing, double stops, and how to combine it all together. You will start to understand how he played so fluidly, and find freedom on the fretboard.

I have selected 5 songs from the album that I deem to be the most educational and inspiring. We will study them together from the ground up, and learn the methods of (arguably) the greatest guitarist of all time.

The goal of this class is not to learn these songs note for note. In fact, it's unlikely that Jimi himself ever played them the same way twice. We will instead be exploring this music to capture the SPIRIT of Jimi’s playing, and use it to ignite the FIRE of our own.

Jimi Hendrix: Are You Experienced?

In this fun and interactive 8-week class, I will be introducing you to the most important aspects of playing blues guitar. You will also learn about the fascinating history of the blues and its most influential artists, and the songs and riffs that changed music forever. 

Throughout this class, you will be encouraged to play along, interact and share your progress on the community forum. 

Blues, in its essence, is simple. It's even considered by some to be "easy" to play. This is a dangerous trap, and frankly, it's disrespectful to the blues masters who paved the way for the rest of us. I know this from first-hand experience; I have been obsessed with the blues my entire life, and although I've been practicing it diligently for nearly 20 years, I would be reluctant to call it easy to play. 

That's the greatest trick with the blues. On the surface, it is straightforward, but in order to really get a handle on it, you have to be willing to go deeper beneath the surface. You have to be willing to go deeper within yourself. 

Blues isn’t about showing off. It’s about conveying emotion. It’s about connecting with yourself, with other musicians and (hopefully) an audience. Blues is a feeling. It's not all about technical skill, it's about developing and believing in your own unique voice.

I am a passionate educator of blues, rock, and everything in between. My no-nonsense approach to teaching and focus on 'the groove' has attracted thousands of students from across the globe. I love to help students develop their own voice and individuality. I can show you how to play tastefully, with feeling and intention. 

I see the guitar through the lens of the CAGED system. Using this as our guide, we can gain a deeper understanding of triads, scales, and how everything links together.
